Dear Hope,

In 2023, I sat down and did something I'd never done before but has become a central part of my practice — I wrote a letter to Hope. Not a person. A feeling. A presence. A member of my inner team.

This is a part of my If I Were to Write A Book Series…Excerpts from My Notebook

Dear Hope,

You are such a gift to me. You are always there. Looking back at moments when I was struggling — you were there. Letting me rest my weary head on your shoulder. You didn't beat me over the head, demanding that I notice you or pay attention. You just were there. And I am so grateful.

Thank you for having my back — especially in 2021. Thank you for holding me down as I built this business. Thank you for giving me the girl you better vibes, for giving me the audacity. Thank you for never leaving me. Thank you.

This year, I'd love to have you along — more intentionally. Would you come with me as I write this book? Would you walk alongside me and let me lay my head on your shoulder when I feel weary? Would you get in my face — lol — and remind me that I'm the shit? Chosen?

Would you laugh with me? Remind me — reassure me that you are with me?

Things are so much better with you around. So much better.

I don't know what's ahead, but I know everything is better with you. I'm not blowing smoke. I'm serious.

I love you, and I'd be honored to have you join me on this next leg.

I mean, I want you around all the time — but in this moment, I want you to know that I want you. I want you. This invitation is real. It's intentional. Because I see you. I love you. & I am a better human. I am more of me when I'm with you.

So will you join me? Will you come with?

I'm thinking of this like my team — who is at my table.

The people on my team need to know what role they play — what I value about them, so they feel wanted & know when, where and how to contribute.

What role do I want Hope to play?

  • When I feel things are moving slowly or not at all, remind me that things ARE working. Remind me of all of the times when things have worked before. Help me still see the possibility. Help me keep sight of what I know to be true. Ask me: What do you know is true?

  • I love your sass. Your unwavering knowing. When I am feeling frantic — uncertain or insecure, wrap your warm arm around me.

  • When doubt tries to overtake me — or fear — tell that bitch to get back. Slam the door. Come sit next to me. Be my safe space as I move through — back to belief.

Be my A1. My first. My resting place. I want to always come home to Hope. To carry you on me. To sit beside you. Have you walk with me. Celebrate with you. Cackle wildly in joyous knowing/belief.
